After a long search in deciding what mattress I wanted to buy I decided on the Shire Eco Sound mattress after coming across it in a showroom locally. More on King Size

King size mattresses are becoming more and more popular on the market today and also more and more affordable. This mattress size larger than a traditional double mattress allows couples to share extra sleeping space for optimum comfort and is now produced by most of the manufacturers.

 

When choosing a new mattress, bear in mind that mattress sizes in the UK remain the same whichever manufacturer makes the mattress. This is sometimes not the case for divans and besteads. The industry standard for a king size mattress is 150cm x 200cm, which is 5’. European and North American sizes for kingsize can differ so be aware of this if you have imported your bed.

 

While mattress sizes are standardised in the UK bed industry, the depth of a king size mattress will depend on the structure and the fillings within the mattress. In most cases manufacturers use combinations of different fillings to offer different support and comfort levels on the various sleeping parts of the mattress.
