A double mattress is the most popular mattress size you can find on the market and it is specifically designed to provide space for two people to comfortably sleep on.

When choosing a new mattress, bear in mind that mattress sizes in the UK remain the same whichever manufacturer makes the mattress. This is sometimes not the case for divans and besteads but always the case for mattresses. The industry standard for a double mattress is 135cm x 190cm, which is 4' 6" by 6' 3". European and North American sizes for double mattresses can differ so be aware of this if you have imported your bed.

While mattress sizes are standardised in the UK bed industry, the depth of a double mattress will depend on the structure and the fillings within the mattress. Nevertheless you can assume that all 4ft6 mattresses are generally between 15cm and 30cm deep which is reflected by our selection of double mattresses for you here at Only Mattresses.
